John Hischer, LCSW
Therapy is an opportunity to begin healing and discovering important aspects of ourselves. I hope to work with you, and below is a short introduction of who I am and my practice experience.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor with 14 years of experience and clinical training working with clients living with depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use issues. I am licensed to practice in Alaska, Alabama, New Mexico, Florida and Utah.
I also has extensive experience working with couples and families. I have been trained in the Gottman method of couples therapy and work to help couples identify areas of conflict in their relationship and provide the support and tools they need to discover their resources to find happiness together.
My therapeutic approach includes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness. I believe that healing is a collaborative endeavor that requires honest caring without judgment, and I cooperatively assist clients in clarifying their goals for treatment.
I am also trained in Critical Incident Stress Management and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing. Please reach out if your organization has experienced a traumatic event and needs help processing and healing.
